Hours of Operation:
- Monday, Wednesday & Friday – 8:45am – 3:00pm
- Year round operation (50 weeks) except for major holidays and training
Who Can Attend:
Any adult meeting 2 criteria + assessment by staff indicating the program/services are able to meet participant’s needs:
- Able to function in group environment (no disruptive behaviors, sounds, etc.)
- Able to bear weight for 3-4 seconds during transfer
We commonly work with:
- Incontinence care
- Wandering
- Ambulation assistance (walkers, canes, wheelchairs)
- Dementia
- Feeding (tube feeding, assistance eating)
Cost:
- Monthly billing based on $70/day

Criteria for Admission and Continued Stay:
- The participant must be able to maintain behavior appropriate to a group environment
- The participant must be able to bear weight to, at a minimum, assist in own transfer between seats.
Nutrition:
- Lunches provided daily by Meals on Wheels, New River Valley Agency on Aging
- AM & PM snacks provided by ADS
- Able to accommodate most special dietary needs (e.g. diabetic, allergies, etc.)
- Unusual dietary needs should be discussed with the Health Care Coordinator
- Fortified drinks (Ensure, etc.) provided by participant
- Assistance with feeding (tube feeding, assistance eating)
Therapeutic Activities (include but are not limited to):
- Music – playing and listening (piano and guitar)
- Gardening on patio
- Intergenerational activities with preschool, middle school, high school, & college students
- Reminiscence discussions and games
- Trivia conversations
- Cards and board games
- TV and video group games
- Active games- bowling, bean bag toss, Frisbee, balloon volleyball
- Snoezlen- bubble tube, bean bags, sensory stimulation
- Community projects and events (e.g. mock election in Fall 08, coupon collection for soldiers)
- Pet visits by certified therapy dogs
Medical Services:
- Nurses or Certified Nurse Assistants present at all times
- Blood pressure readings
- Weight
- Blood sugar readings
- Eating and drinking volumes tracked
- Tube feeding
- Bathroom assistance logged
- Medications supplied by family with physician prescription in current labeled bottle
- Medication dispensed at ADS
- Oxygen concentrator (supplied by family)
- Attention to individual medical and food allergies
- Functional Assessments
